Apropos of Nothing - May 15, 2025
"Apropos of Nothing" is a semi-regular feature (I'm still figuring out my publishing cadence) that will talk about cool articles I've read, what books I'm reading, good music, random musings, publications I have coming out - you get the idea.

Two notes before I begin:
- Yes, this newsletter has moved. I wanted to build out some things here, and Substack was just too limiting in its feature set. So I'm trying a platform called Ghost as an experiment. I will bring selected articles from my old Substack over here in time. You can access my new content at https://thatmoodyguy.com. Please bear with me if this email or the website isn't quite dialed in - I'm learning as I go.

So into the randomness we dive!
- My friend Alan Noble published a good article on how 18-25 year olds are struggling to adult. I know my own kids are feeling that difficulty. (Alan is a clever, honest, and insightful writer. His books are stellar too!)
- My wife and I saw Thunderbolts* this past weekend. We liked it - there was a refreshing absence of F-bombs, the characters were mostly well-fleshed out, and the plot had moments of humor but was touching all the same. (Plus, David Harbour is awesome in everything he's in!).
- I sliced my finger on my tablesaw this past weekend. Maybe I should stick to my keyboard and leave the craftiness to others. (I'm OK - just mangled the pad of my index finger.)
- “The splendour, the love, and the strength be upon you.” I’ve read Perelandra a dozen or more times, but somehow I missed this - the farewell blessing from the King to Ransom. What a powerful blessing for all of us.
My friends, the splendour, the love, and the strength be upon you all.
